Amnesty International Slovenia
Dear film buffs,
partnership with the Festival of Documentary film has once again filled us with excitement and expectation: for the second time we are able to offer the Festival’s audience a look through the prism of human rights and a perspective, where each of us has a possibility and the responsibility to act. Discussion at the
round table will present you the issue of corporate accountability for environment and human rights. Each day of the Festival, Amnesty International Slovenia activists will offer you an opportunity to exert pressure on Shell and Nigerian authorities to clean the pollution caused by the oil industry in Niger delta, which forces into extreme poverty so many people in this area, so rich in resources. An international jury will select the best documentary human rights film that will receive the award conferred by Amnesty International Slovenia.
No story can persuade and motivate people for action better than the one told with words and motion pictures by those who experienced it – in a documentary film. And although films can’t change the world, people who watch them can!
We hope that stories from this year’s programme will catch your attention and persuade you that change is necessary, while our activism will show you it is also possible.
